Blood Cancer

Blood cancer is a general term for cancer that affects the blood, bone marrow, or lymphatic system. The three main types of blood cancer are leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma.

  • Leukemia: This is a cancer of the blood cells. It occurs when the bone marrow produces too many abnormal white blood cells.
  • Lymphoma: This is a cancer of the lymphatic system. The lymphatic system is a network of vessels and organs that help the body fight infection.
  • Myeloma: This is a cancer of the plasma cells. Plasma cells are a type of white blood cell that produces antibodies.
